Summer Vacation
Wait! No, I swear... please just listen to me. Bang! and there she went lying dead in front of me. I wish I had done something, but there was no other option. She had seen it before it even happened.
This was not long ago. We were on our last day of school before our summer break. I remember shirts being ripped apart, the hallway covered with ink, teachers yelling on the top of their lungs. It was just beautiful. My best friend Kim was out there, literary turning the cafeteria upside down. She was crazy and not just any crazy. She used to set sparks in the restroom, and believe me, I have seen worse. After we were done bankrupting our school, we went for lunch at a local restaurant. Josh joined us. He was my lab partner and Kim's locker partner.
What will you do during vacations? Kim asked me. Haven't planned anything, you? I asked. Josh and I had an idea. We will investigate, she said. Investigate? Investigate what? I asked. That, she said, pointing up the hill. The house of terror? You crazy? I asked in shock. "The house of terror" is the name we gave to Mr. Ree's mansion, which is on the top of the hill. It has been said that Mr. and Mrs. Ree died there a long time ago, and people say that their spirits are still there wandering around it. Whoever visited the castle has either vanished or dead within a week. People are scared to even go up there, and for some reason, that castle cannot be demolished. I tried to put some sense into Kim, but she had her mind made up. Either you come, or it's Kim and me, Josh declared. Now, I would NEVER have said yes but leaving these two brainless people alone wasn't an option. Great! we'll leave first thing after midnight, Josh stood up and said. Midnight, it always has to be midnights. Why can it be day? You know when it's light and safe. Every horror and spooky part has to be in the dark.
Midnight struck! I left my house without leaving a trace. Hoping no one notices me gone. We met up at the bottom of the hill. You got the torches? Josh asked me. I gave everyone a flashlight which I BORROWED from my dad's garage, and hed up. The wind had a low-pitched creaking, something you would hear in a horror movie. There were no signs of life, just three crazy kids heading somewhere they shouldn't be.
The house; sitting there waiting for us. There were shattered windows, scrapped paint, and an awful smell that almost made me throw up. The house looked centuries old and was nearly the size of our school. The door was already open. I already knew this house was waiting for us, and this proved my point. I noticed that the door was the only thing that seemed furnished or at least cleaned.
We went in. Carrying nothing but flashlights and a small knife, I hid in my pants. Josh was tucked behind Kim, who had no fear and nothing to do with her life. There was a large room with a big chandelier sparkling through the moonlight. Right below the chandelier, there was a vase. The vase was very clean had a weird glow. After an hour-long search around the house, we found absolutely nothing, and by nothing, I mean literally; nothing. No furnichers or ripped curtains. Anything you'd expect in a haunted house; wasn't there. All this, for a vase? Kim complained. She was mad for nothing. I mean, no one asked her to come here in the first place. She took the vase and slammed it on the wall. Show yourself, you little bitch, she yelled. There was a strange smoke coming out of the broken vase. I could already tell that this was the part where we died.
HOW DARE YOU! said a voice from behind. Josh started screaming. We turned around and saw an old man who looked at least a couple of hundred years old. He had blood-red eyes, snow-white hair, and a long beard, almost hitting the ground. He had a long gun in his arm, probably something from the world war I. He stood there with his long boney fingers pointing at Kim. He who dares to interrupt the ancient one shall face the dead, he said and pointed the gun at Kim. We three stood there with absolute shock, not dared to move a muscle.
Wait! No, I swear... please just listen to me... BANG! That day, I saw my best friend dying in my arms. That man disappeared in thin air. Josh started weeping and still sat there, not understanding what had happened.
Today was the first day of the new semester, and I spent it looking at Kim's empty desk. A tear dropped down, and the bell rang. This was the story of my summer vacation, how about you?
