The Day I Fainted

It was a sunny day. The sun was shining and birds were singing. Only one place was dark, the haunted house from the next street. I didn’t trust the news reporter when they said that it was a haunted house, and whoever went there never returned.

I thought it was just a trick to stop kids from going outside, but I got to admit it was pretty scary. I wanted to show everyone that it was a lie, so I decided to go there and see for myself. I called Adam, my best friend to come over tonight and accompany me to the haunted house.

At midnight we left the house and reached our destination. The house looked ancient and I felt that it must have been there for a hundred years. I reached out and opened the door. From inside it looked like if the President lived there, I mean it was so charming. We searched every corner and every room but, we found nothing. I had a camera with me and I recorded everything as we explored.

We were about to leave when we heard the shattering echo of a glass object. Adam was about to flee, but I wanted to take a look. Before I entered the kitchen, Adam let out a huge scream. It turned out that Savannah was following us. I told her that she better leave or the ghosts would get her.

She said that she saw us from her window and had followed us. She said that she would not leave until…Suddenly the wind blew so hard that the whole house rattled like leaves in a storm. We ran towards the door, but the door was locked. Savannah ran upstairs, I tried to stop her. She told me that she intended to jump from the second floor. Adam tried to break the door with the axe that was beside the fireplace.

We broke the door and that’s when I saw a pair of yellow eyes on the staircase. We ran until we lost sight of the house behind us. I could still see the eyes around me and I fainted.

I woke up to the sight of white walls. I realized I am at the hospital. I saw my parents and Adam looking at the recording. The nurse helped me stand and gave me a glass of water. The next day I saw the recording, I noticed that the eyes I saw on the staircase were not there. Dad had told everything to the Police. The police were searching for Savannah, but there was no sign of her disappearance.
